This shooting sports weekend promises to be an exciting departure from last year's event. In addition to the spooky theme, everyone gets a chance to shoot — yes, that includes adults! Space is limited to ensure full participation for all. PLUS, there will be a banquet dinner (more food than even Scout P. can handle!).

Our participation in this spring's event, which was organized by the same esteemed committee, was a memorable experience for Troop 23, fully embracing the core values of scouting and shooting sports.

The cost per Scout is $65.00, which includes the event fee (patch, prizes, Saturday banquet dinner), campsite, and all other meals. Fees and permission slips are due by Monday, September 16th.

Nestled along the shores of Crystal Lake, these three lean-tos represent the newest campsite addition at TMR. The Lakeside Lean-Tos stand out for their size, offering ample space that allows even adult campers to comfortably step in, stand up, and move around. Their location right on the water's edge not only guarantees stunning sunrises but also provides hours of entertainment for those who love fishing.

While the site doesn’t have a local water source, requiring units to bring their own water, its convenience and proximity to Lakeside Tent and Suanhacky Lodge make it an excellent choice for groups in need of additional sleeping accommodations.

Historian's notes

Hello scouts, on October 18 our troop left at 7 PM to go to the shooting sports event at TMR (ten mile river scout camp). We arrived around 11 PM at our campsite.

We woke up at six in the morning to cook. Around 7:00am we left to go towards the shotgun range.Later at 8:00am we left to try out cowboy action, which is a type of shooting challenge. After spending an hour and a half we left to go explore the scout reservation, We then explored an obstacle course, later we went near the lake to play basketball and fish around 11:00am we got back to the camp and cooked lunch about two hours later we left for the rifle range and for there we tired a spreader shotgun range, after that we returned to camp to clean up and get ready for Dinner at the TMR mess hall.

After having a dinner graciously provided by the TMR staff, there was a raffle held where some of us won NRA T-shirts. around 10 PM we were back at camp and ready to sleep.

We woke up around five the next morning and we’re gone by six.
