Pine Hill Merit Badge College Trip

Are you ready for college? Maybe not yet but how about a Merit Badge College? Tuition is only $40, including camping. Since most scouts are hesitant to find counselors the traditional way, these events are the most efficient route. I like Animation and Electricity. Remember that doing merit badges is not solely for rank advancement but also for preparing for life, exploring, learning, and fun. 

Because the sessions have a maximum capacity (10, 15, 20, 30, or 40), registration for each session must be completed prior. And to ensure that you get the classes you want, we need to register as soon as possible. Classes are sold out every year. Ideally, you are able to get into the classes you want and are occupied for the entire day. So please review the description of the classes and pay particular attention to the schedule and the prerequisites. To that end, please RSVP and provide your selection by Monday night. 11/6. Preferably, email Mr. Macias and Mr. Wong prior. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, specially for the younger scouts. 

This will be part of our camping trip for December. While you will be pretty busy with classes, we will be able to camp with some opportunities to complete advancement requirements. The troop will be responsible for their own meals, etc. Sorry, no time to hike on this trip. 

Fee is $40 per Scout due Monday Nov. 27th. Fee includes campsite, food, merit badge classes.

Pine Hill Scout Reservation

Carson - Tent camping sites are preset sites in our wooded campsites with lots of space to set your tent, kitchen and activity areas. Each campsite includes fire pit, picnic table, and sleeping areas. All campsites are in walking distance to either the central bathhouse or portable toilet facilities. Carson has a small pavilion. Potable water on site.

Trash and Trash Bag Disposal: Each unit is responsible for their own trash and trash bags. For disposal of trash either during or at the end of your stay please dispose in the dumpster located near the front of our entrance. This dumpster has been noted on your map.

Water Access: Many campsites are fitted with a faucet for easy access to water. However, during our winter months campsite water is turned off and units must rely on our three frost free water pumps located throughout camp. These points are noted on your map.

Vehicles and Trailers: However, all vehicles must remain in either of our parking lots. Any unit wishing to park a car in their campsite for the health reasons of a troop member must ask for a medical authorization pass from the Campmaster on duty. During arrival you may use one vehicle to move personal gear from the parking lots to your campsites. Note: Any vehicle moving through camp at anytime must have hazards on.

REMINDERS:

• Cub Field Gate will be open starting at 5pm for check-in. 
• One (1) Vehicle will be allowed back to each campsite at a time. Vehicle passes will be used at Gate.  Trailer can remain in site for the weekend. 
• Turn in Rosters at Friday night leader meeting. Leaders Meeting in Dining Hall will include Cracker Barrell. 
• Each Troop should come prepared with a minimum of one skit and one song for Campfire Saturday Night.   These will be turned in at the meeting on a sign up sheet
• Scouts that are taking Communications Merit Badge (camping the weekend) please attend the Friday 9pm leaders meeting for short discussion about Saturday morning. 
• For Scouts Camping over their troop will receive a packet at the Friday night meeting (9pm Dining Hall) with handouts (map of classes) and each Scouts schedule.    
• Blue Cards are required for Merit Badge Classes.  Please bring them with you. 
• Trading Post will be open from 11:30am – 2:00pm (plan for cash only)
