Troop 23 is excited to participate in this year's annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 6th.
Join us, along with the NYPD and public officials, at various locations across the city for an evening dedicated to building safer, more caring communities. National Night Out is an event that strengthens the bond between neighbors and law enforcement. Enjoy BBQ, bounce houses, face-painting, and fun activities while connecting with leaders from your local precinct, neighbors, and local businesses.
To ensure we're ready for the event, scouts are expected to arrive an hour early at 5 PM to help with the setup. We will have two tables set up—one for Troop 23 and another for Pack 23. At our tables, we will provide brochures and flyers detailing our activities, trips, and the various aspects of our scouting program.
In addition to the information tables, we plan to create a mini-camp setup. This will include pitching a tent and possibly creating an improvised campfire to showcase a typical scouting experience. This setup aims to introduce and attract new young participants to the scouting movement, offering them a glimpse into the exciting and educational world of scouting.
While this is our first time participating in National Night Out, we have successfully organized similar events in the past, such as the Annual 3rd Avenue Festival, Parks Day, and Fun on Fifth Trunk Or Treat Halloween Festival.
Our goal is to engage with the community, highlight the benefits of scouting, and inspire new members to join our ranks.
The event will take place at Shore Road Park, located at Shore Road and 79th Street, away from the 68th Precinct's main office. This beautiful park offers a spacious and scenic environment, perfect for community gatherings like National Night Out.
While the 68th Precinct serves our local area and plays a crucial role in maintaining safety, this event is set in a relaxed outdoor location, providing a different atmosphere from the precinct itself.
