When and Where

When: May 21, 2023
Timeline: 9:00 am — 12:00 pm

The event will occur at Greenwood Cemetery (5th Ave and 25th St) on May 21st, 2023 9:00 AM until we run out of flags (This should only take a couple of hours.)

We will continue our annual tradition of personally honoring those veterans who rest at Greenwood Cemetery by placing flags at their graves one week prior to Memorial Day, to beat the crowd and maximize our impact.

This is the perfect event to honor the fallen and got do service to our community.

You need to be prepared for the circumstances that might arise. One year, it rained throughout - bring raingear. However, the forecast looks perfect. The ground and grass will be wet. Wear waterproof footwear. Another year, it was very warm - bring liquids. It's fine to wear Class B this time.

Everyone is free to come and help out.

Historian's notes

On Sunday, 5/21/23, the scouts went to Greenwood Cemetery to continue our annual tradition of honoring those who fought for us.

First, we went to the civil war monument and planted flags to pay our respects to whose who fought during the civil war.

Then, we walked to the drummer boy, the first person to die during the civil war, to plant flags on his grave as well as the other soldiers' graves that were in the surrounding area.

Then, we hiked back to the entrance, whilst planting flags on any soldier's grave we saw along the way.
