Klondike Derby

When and Where

When: February 04, 2023
Timeline: 9:00 am — 3:00 pm

Location: Coney Island

The events in the derby are separated into two groups, the Cub Scout pack events, and the Boy Scout troop events. Each event is scored so it is crucial to practice and review all of the ones we will be participating in beforehand.

1) Build a Survival Shelter

2) Orienteering

3) Ice Rescue and First Aid

4) Ice Fishing

5) Signals

Troop Packing

To prepare for the event our troop will need to work together to pack the necessary supplies for the contest. These supplies are split into two parts, necessary ones for which you get points and optional ones with aren't needed but are preferred to have.

Required Items

• - ⧠ First Aid Kit 
• - ⧠ Blanket American 
• - ⧠ Flag Pack/Troop/Patrol Flag on a pole 
• - ⧠ Scout Handbook 
• - ⧠ 20-foot rope (sled pulling rope accepted) 
• - ⧠ Neckerchief (or triangle bandage)

Additional Non-Required Items

• - ⧠ Patrol Roster 
• - ⧠ Pencil and Clipboard 
• - ⧠ Flashlight 
• - ⧠ Digital Watch 
• - ⧠ 6 ropes (6 feet in length each) 
• - ⧠ Three poles (between 5-6 feet in length each) 
• - ⧠ Tarp (for shelter) 
• - ⧠ Shovel
