The trip will take place at Quail Hill Scout Reservation from October 1st, 2021 8 PM to October 3rd, 2021 12 PM

Friday: The plan is to meet at OLA at 7:00 PM so that we can conduct a pack inspection and load up the vehicles.  Note that the troop does not organize carpooling; you need to have already planned your transportation to Quail Hill Scout Reservation.

Saturday: The morning routine needs to be completed on time for the hike to begin at 8:30 AM.  We need to complete and return to camp at a reasonable time to start dinner. Evening festivities will include a campfire and flag retirement service.

Sunday:  Visiting the Battle of Monmouth visitor center before heading home.

What to Bring

We will embark on completing the Battle of Monmouth Historic Trail so, bring hiking equipment along with normal camping gear because we will stay there overnight.

Battle of Monmouth Historic Trail Award Requirements (as well as a component of the Hiking merit badge):
- Trail Questionnaire for Scouts. Feel free to begin to work on the questionnaire before the hike, but most will be completed during the hike. Please turn in the completed questionnaire at the end of the hike to be graded.
- Trail Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Tz5u9Dt-z7YUZTTWkycXpkSjQ/view?usp=sharing (this link did not work for me.  I have reached out to the organizer for an updated link and will forward it when I receive it).
- Complete the entire 11-mile hike.

Historic Trail Award (applicable to NOA), in addition to above
- Camp two days and one night along the trail.  For those who are coming only for the hike, you can satisfy this requirement at another time to earn the award.
- Cooperate with the organizers to complete a service project.  The organizers would greatly appreciate our help in clearing and cleaning the trail along the hike.

Directions for those who decided to arrive on Saturday

Use GPS for Quail Hill Scout Reservations.

When you turn into La Valley Drive from Iron Ore Road, you will continue down past homes.  When you reach Quail Hill, just keep driving down the road past one parking lot on your right and then finally into the last parking lot.  Adjacent is the Lass Program Center and a yellow gate.  Camp 1A is a hike down the road of the yellow gate.  You have to pass the high-tech (relative to scout camps in general) bathroom on the right.
