51th Annual 3rd Avenue Festival

When: September 29, 2024
Timeline: 10:30 am — 4:00 pm

On Sunday, September 29th, the 51st Annual 3rd Avenue Festival will occur, running from 10 AM to 6 PM. This event is always well attended and presents a great opportunity for us. 

We have been provided a spot at ???? 3rd Avenue. Picturing 2 canopies, the American flag, the Troop flag, flyers, etc., and lots of fun. 

We need our scouts and, this time, Cub Scouts from Pack 23 to engage prospect scouts, and we need adults to do the same for prospect scout parents. Including our younger scouts is a great way to show the progression from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting and helps introduce them to the values and experiences they’ll grow into. We will occupy the station and also send smaller groups to walk around. Strong participation from both Troop 23 and Pack 23 will demonstrate what a committed and unified unit we are.

Note that we will also be collecting American Flags to be retired by us. This is another way in which we can let the community know of our support and dedication to citizenship.

Some adult leaders and parents will be there from 10:30 a.m. to set up the place.

Equipment List:

• American Flag on pole (may not use)
• Troop Flag on pole
• Troop Flag for the table
• Clips to adhere the flag to the table
• Folding tables - 2x
• Recruiting bags from GNYC
• Old flyers
• New flyers 
• Canopies - 2x
• Blue Frisbees 
• Wood and rope for scouts to build a gateway  (it would have been nice if we had patrol flags to display)
• Go-kart(s)
• Sled?

Uniform:

• Adult leaders - Class A
• Adults others - Class B
• Youth - personal choice of A or B (red preferred) 

Labels:  labels to be used on drinks, care packages, etc. Great way to make sure that they know how to contact us.

Care packages:

• Snacks - gummy bears
• Small water bottles
• Juice boxes
• Small ziplock bags
